Halal Feasibility Screening

The half day Halal feasibility screening program detects Halal Critical Issues in the beginning of the project.

Although many producers of Halal products are not located in Muslim countries, they have a large experience in production and the corresponding quality and food safety assurance programs.

We use the operational strength and production control systems of these producers to also assure Halal integrity. As the assurance systems are audited by officially accredited third parties, Halal integrity is maintained just as any other quality or food safety requirement, substantially adding to the credibility of the corresponding Halal product.

Halal integrity and Food safety

We take Halal as seriously as food safety. As there is no market for unsafe food, there is no Halal market for non-Halal products. Therefore we use the same methodology for ensuring food safety (HACCP) HACCP : Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points - a food safety system designed to guarantee safe food. to ensure Halal integrity. As in Europe all food producers must have a working HACCP food safety system in place, Halal integrity can be assured using the same control system.

Translation of Halal requirements

As maintaining Halal integrity is similar to maintaining food safety, the same methodology is used to to introduce Halal integrity into the production systems.

The systematic translation of Halal requirements and screening for Critical Halal process steps is the core of the Picture of the Halal Plug In® method method :

  • define the Halal requirements, as they can vary from one market to the other

The programs can be based on international Halal Standards like the Malaysian MS1500/2400 standards or the Indonesian MUI-LPPOM HAS 23000 standard, preparing for international exports.

As such, we are also able so assist companies in obtaining direct MUI approval for retail products in Indonesia. Certification

Once Halal is built in, the Halal certification or plant approval process is initiated. As the purpose of the Picture of the Halal Plug In® method program is to develop a general Halal platform, multiple plant or Halal certifications are possible, enlarging the market potential.

Halal Certifier Selection

Halal Certification is less straightforward than ISO9000, IFS or BRC certification as the Halal standard used for the assessment is not aways well defined or known, especially for the European unregulated Halal market.

Halal Export Documentation

Experience in Internation Halal Trade, Halal Balancing™ offers assistance with the (Halal) documents needed for International Export (e.g. Middle East, Asia)

Also for markets with defined Halal standards, Halal Certifying Bodies may add additional requirements on top of the requirements of the importing country or region, next to being approved or not for that country.

Apart from Halal Certifier Selection we can also manage the entire 'Request for proposal' procedure, from establishing the Halal Certifier short list to final fee negotiations.

In case of MUI certification, Logo of Halal Balancing™ can also manage the application process (CEROL SS 23000) as no local Halal Certifying Bodies are involved.
